Packages

Emulated Input -- KWin and xdg-desktop-portal-kde use it for input emulation / RemoteDesktop. Depends on libxkbcommon (build that first). ship_in_iso=false -- KDE Plasma is a Packages-page / Package Manager install, deliberately kept off linuxdoors.iso (XFCE + MATE are the shipped desktops). Built on .101 against the existing KF6 6.29 + Qt6 (/opt/qt6-full) stack from the Kdenlive work.

LFS ch8. Only builds the libelf sub-component of elfutils (not the full elfutils toolset), per the book. Skips the optional make check.

BLFS. GL function pointer dispatch library, needed by GTK3. Skips the optional test suite and optional docs (needs Doxygen, not built).

BLFS basicnet/libevent.html. Recommended by Firefox (--with-system-libevent).

EXIF parsing -- caja uses it for image thumbnails/properties. BLFS general/libexif.html.

LFS ch8. Skips the optional make check. Bumped 3.7.1 -> 3.8.0 to track LFS 13.1's package set (sha256 from a real downloaded tarball).

libfm built with --with-extra-only -- installs ONLY libfm-extra (a tiny, GTK-free sublib split out of libfm specifically to break the libfm<->menu-cache dependency cycle). This is BLFS's own libfm-extra recipe. menu-cache 1.1.0's configure requires libfm-extra unconditionally. Nothing in the LXQt stack needs the full GTK libfm (libfm-qt is self-contained since 1.3), so only this extra-only build is packaged. LXQt 2.4 desktop, ship_in_iso=false.

Qt6 file-management library -- the backend for pcmanfm-qt. Self-contained since 1.3 (no libfm). find_package(lxqt-menu-data) + find_package(XCB) at configure time, so both must precede it. LXQt 2.4 minimal-but-real desktop stack, ship_in_iso=false (Packages-page / Package Manager install only, like KDE Plasma). Built on .101 against /opt/qt6-full + KF6 6.29. cmake/meson --libdir=lib for LinuxDoors' non-multiarch layout.

BLFS general/libfyaml.html (YAML 1.3 parser/writer). Real, needed AppStream dependency (packages/appstream) -- see that package's notes. Plain autotools build, skips the test suite.

BLFS general-libraries. Required by lightdm. Skips the book's HTML/text doc regeneration (needs makeinfo/texlive-adjacent tooling we don't build) and the optional test suite. || Security/patch update 1.12.2 -> 1.12.4 (2026-10-08): real upstream tarball, archive integrity tested, sha256 computed from the download.

libgee -- GObject collection library, written in Vala (libgee-0.8). Dep of Budgie Desktop. autotools; needs valac (packages/vala) + glib2 + gobject-introspection. ship_in_iso=false.

Not a BLFS book package -- added as a real, standalone system library specifically to work around a real build failure in packages/cargo-c: the `cargo` crate (a real dependency of cargo-c itself) pulls in libgit2-sys, whose *vendored* C build produced a broken/incomplete generated-header include directory in this environment (real 'git2/sys/errors.h: No such file or directory' and 'sys/credential.h: No such file or directory' compile failures, confirmed not caused by this project's own MAKEFLAGS quirk -- ruled out by testing). Standard upstream CMake build (https://libgit2.org/docs/guides/build-and-link/), no BLFS page exists for it. Once this real system libgit2.so + its pkg-config file are installed, cargo-c's build.sh sets LIBGIT2_SYS_USE_PKG_CONFIG=1 (the documented libgit2-sys env var, same idea as the already-used LIBSSH2_SYS_USE_PKG_CONFIG) so libgit2-sys links against this real system copy instead of trying (and failing) to compile its own vendored copy.

libgnome-desktop -- shared GNOME desktop-environment library (monitor/RandR helper code, thumbnailing, wall-clock formatting) gnome-control-center's panels link against. BLFS general/gnome-desktop.html. All 4 documented deps (gsettings-desktop-schemas, iso-codes, libseccomp, xkeyboard-config) plus the recommended GTK3+GTK4 were already built on .101 from earlier GNOME/KDE work -- confirmed via pkg-config before writing this. ship_in_iso=false, same as the rest of the GNOME stack -- Package Manager install only. || Bumped 44.5 -> 51.0 (2026-09-18, part of the GNOME 51 push). Real, confirmed soname collision found: upstream's own libversion string (2.1.4 -> libgnome-desktop-4.so.2) is IDENTICAL in both 44.5 and 51.0's meson.build. That, plus gnome-session/gnome-shell/mutter/gnome-control-center/gnome-keyring all installing to the same fixed /usr/bin paths as their GNOME 48 counterparts, is why this whole GNOME 51 chain builds into an isolated /opt/gnome51 prefix instead of /usr -- see build.sh's own comment for the full reasoning. Real sha256 verified against GNOME's own published sha256sum file.

GNOME keyboard-configuration library (libgnomekbd / libgnomekbdui). Last upstream release (3.28.1, 2021). xapp's keyboard-layout controller (used by Cinnamon) hard-requires libgnomekbdui via pkg-config. Plain autotools; depends on libxklavier (already built, 5.4). Cinnamon 6.4 desktop, ship_in_iso=false.

BLFS general-libraries. Required by libgcrypt, which lightdm needs. Skips the optional test suite.

GNOME Structured File library (libgsf-1). nemo's search-helpers subdir hard-requires it (search inside compound/archive documents). Plain autotools. Cinnamon 6.4 desktop, ship_in_iso=false.

Portable library to obtain process and system state (CPU/mem/proc lists). Required by mate-system-monitor (libgtop-2.0 pkg-config). Autotools. ship_in_iso:false.

libgudev -- GObject bindings for libudev. Needed by mutter (-Dudev=true) and gnome-settings-daemon. ship_in_iso=false, built on .101.

libgusb -- GObject wrapper around libusb-1.0. colord hard-requires gusb>=0.2.7. ship_in_iso=false, built on .101.

libgweather 4 -- weather-service lib (gweather4.pc). gnome-settings-daemon needs it. ship_in_iso=false, built on .101.

NetSurf project (not BLFS/LFS). HTML5-compliant HTML parser, needs libparserutils (already built).

libical + libical-glib -- iCalendar library. evolution-data-server needs libical-glib. ship_in_iso=false, built on .101.

BLFS. Needed by gdk-pixbuf for JPEG support. Skips the optional make test.

KDE Plasma 6.7.4 component for the LinuxDoors KDE desktop. ship_in_iso=false -- KDE Plasma is a Packages-page / Package Manager install, deliberately kept off linuxdoors.iso (XFCE + MATE are the shipped desktops). Built on .101 against the existing KF6 6.29 + Qt6 (/opt/qt6-full) stack from the Kdenlive work. || 6.7.4 -> 6.7.5 (2026-09-14 real upstream-currency bump, real sha256 computed -- no published checksum from KDE's release-service, only a detached .asc signature, so archive integrity was verified with `xz -t` first, same approach as kdenlive/mesa). 2026-10-10: rebuilt as 6.7.5-1 against Qt 6.12.0 (links Qt private API, which is only guaranteed within one Qt minor release).
