budgie-desktopNot in ISO 2026-09-28: bumped 10.9.4 (last X11 series) -> 10.10.3 -- the real Wayland/labwc series, part of the same day's Budgie Wayland chain (libsfdo/wlroots/libseat/labwc/gtk3-wayland-backend/gtk-layer-shell/budgie-session a... 2026-09-28: bumped 10.9.4 (last X11 series) -> 10.10.3 -- the real Wayland/labwc series, part of the same day's Budgie Wayland chain (libsfdo/wlroots/libseat/labwc/gtk3-wayland-backend/gtk-layer-shell/budgie-session all built first, see those packages' own notes). Real, structural differences from 10.9.4 confirmed directly against the actual v10.10.3 source before writing this build.sh (not guessed): (1) `src/wm/` no longer contains an embedded window-manager plugin at all -- upstream itself dropped the bundled Mutter-based compositor entirely, so the old 'don't build src/wm, ship just its gschema, shim in system Mutter' workaround is GONE and unnecessary; `subdir('wm')` is left in place unmodified, it now only installs 2 real gschema files. (2) The screensaver dependency/assert this project previously had to neuter is also gone from 10.10.3's meson.build entirely -- nothing to patch there either. (3) Real, complete, WORKING session-launch chain confirmed directly from source, no hand-authoring needed: `wayland-sessions/budgie-desktop.desktop` (Exec=@bindir@/startbudgielabwc, Name='Budgie Desktop') is a genuine first-class upstream deliverable -- startbudgielabwc sets up the Wayland env vars, copies default labwc rc.xml/environment/menu.xml configs into ~/.config/budgie-desktop/labwc/ on first run, then runs `labwc --config-dir ... -S budgie-desktop` (labwc's own -S/startup-command flag, confirmed present in this project's real labwc build), which makes labwc itself invoke `/usr/bin/budgie-desktop` as its startup client once the compositor is ready. That script waits on the real `budgie-session-compositor-ready` helper (confirmed built and installed by packages/budgie-session), starts `org.buddiesofbudgie.Services` + xdg-desktop-portal (NOT built in this project -- a known, non-blocking gap, backgrounded with `&` so its absence doesn't stop the rest of the chain) plus optionally oo7-daemon (disabled, see -Dwith-oo7=false below), then execs `budgie-session --builtin --session=org.buddiesofbudgie.BudgieDesktop` -- confirmed for real that budgie-session-binary (from packages/budgie-session) genuinely supports `--builtin`/`--session=` as real CLI flags. `org.buddiesofbudgie.BudgieDesktop.session` (the real legacy .session file this whole chain reads, matching gnome-session's own RequiredComponents= mechanism) is generated directly by budgie-desktop's own src/session/meson.build from its `gsd-components` meson option array -- trimmed via `-Dgsd-components=` to exactly the org.gnome.SettingsDaemon plugins this project's real gnome-settings-daemon-48 build actually provides (A11ySettings, Datetime, Housekeeping, Power, PrintNotifications, Rfkill, Sharing, Sound, UsbProtection -- dropping the upstream default's DiskUtilityNotify/Smartcard/Wwan, none of which this project's gsd build provides), same reasoning and same real crash risk already documented and fixed for packages/gnome-session's own RequiredComponents= trim earlier the same day. `-Dlabwc-bindir=/usr/bin` points at this project's real labwc. `-Dwith-bluetooth=false` (no BlueZ stack in this project), `-Dwith-oo7=false` (no Secret Service provider needed), `-Dwith-runtime-dependencies=false` (skips a real build-time check for several Wayland CLI utilities -- wlopm/swayidle/gammastep/grim/slurp/swaybg/eglinfo/gtklock-or-swaylock -- this project has built none of them; none are required for the panel/daemon to actually run, just for some optional screen-lock/idle/screenshot conveniences), `-Dwith-gtk-doc=false`. Real gvc submodule commit for THIS tag re-pinned (47c47a423ff2f55bb038d92517e4782cf051496a -- different from 10.9.4's own pinned commit, confirmed via the real GitHub contents API for the v10.10.3 tree, not assumed to be unchanged). || 2026-09-28/29, REAL BLOCKER FOUND AND RESOLVED (RESOLVED, not the earlier wrong conclusion below -- see the correction at the very end): budgie-desktop's own Vala code (src/lib/waylandclient.vala, src/windowing/*.vala) does `--pkg libxfce4 |

budgie-desktop-viewNot in ISO budgie-desktop-view 1.3 -- the desktop-icon renderer + desktop right-click menu for Budgie (a SEPARATE upstream project, not in the budgie-desktop source; 1.3 is the last X11-era release, 10.10+ is Wayland-only). budgie-desktop-view 1.3 -- the desktop-icon renderer + desktop right-click menu for Budgie (a SEPARATE upstream project, not in the budgie-desktop source; 1.3 is the last X11-era release, 10.10+ is Wayland-only). Ships a gschema override: show=true (icons off by default upstream) and click-policy='double'. The 'double' default matters: in single-click mode budgie-desktop-view launches on every mouse button-RELEASE, so a double-click fires launch() twice -> two windows. LinuxDoors Desktop Selections has a 'Click to open' toggle (single/double) that flips this per-user. ship_in_iso=false. |

budgie-sessionNot in ISO 2026-09-28: new package, part of the Budgie 10.10 Wayland chain. 2026-09-28: new package, part of the Budgie 10.10 Wayland chain. Real upstream describes it as 'a softish fork of gnome-session' -- confirmed directly against its source: same directory layout (gnome-session/, tools/, data/, po/), same dependency profile as this project's own real gnome-session package (glib2, gtk+-3.0, gnome-desktop-3.0/libgnome-desktop, json-glib, ice/sm/x11/xtrans from x7lib), its own D-Bus interface is org.buddiesofbudgie.SessionManager (a real, separate gschema, not literally org.gnome.SessionManager). `-Dconsolekit=false` (this project uses systemd exclusively -- avoids the dbus-glib-1 dependency ConsoleKit support would otherwise pull in, even though dbus-glib.pc happens to already exist here). `-Dsystemd=true -Dsystemd_session=default` (real systemd session tracking). `-Dman=false -Ddocbook=false` (avoid the xmlto/docbook toolchain). `-Dsession_selector=false` (matches this project's gnome-session choice). IMPORTANT REAL GAP found by reading data/meson.build directly, not assumed: at this exact v1.0.1 release, budgie-session's own `desktops = []` and `sessions = []` arrays in data/meson.build are BOTH LITERALLY EMPTY (only conditionally populated if the disabled session_selector option is on), and its entire systemd unit/target-file installation block is wrapped in a permanent `if 1==2` (i.e. deliberately, permanently disabled dead code, not a bug -- confirmed verbatim in the real source). This means the build produces the real session-manager binary/library and its D-Bus gschema, but ships ZERO .desktop session files, ZERO legacy .session files, and ZERO systemd target/service/drop-in units of its own -- none of the launch-chain scaffolding gnome-session ships is present here at all. The actual Budgie Wayland session launch chain (wayland-sessions/*.desktop, the labwc autostart script that actually starts budgie-session/budgie-panel/budgie-daemon, and whatever minimal D-Bus SessionManager wiring is actually needed) has to be hand-built by this project, the same way linuxdoors-gnome51-sessionmanager.py was hand-built for the /opt/gnome51 VNC feature when that setup also skipped a real session manager -- see packages/budgie-desktop's own notes for how this was actually resolved. |

BLFS general/cargo-c.html -- a cargo subcommand (cargo-capi/cargo-cbuild/cargo-cinstall/cargo-ctest) that lets a Rust crate build a real C-ABI-compatible shared library + pkg-config file + headers. Needed only as a build-time tool for librsvg (packages/librsvg), which is itself a real GIMP 3.2.4 dependency. Reuses this project's existing rustc (built for the Firefox chain) and libssh2 (recommended, already built for the same chain) -- no longer the Rust-avoidance blocker it used to be for adwaita-icon-theme/NetSurf's optional SVG support, since a real working Rust toolchain now exists in this project. The book's own pinned Cargo.lock is fetched as an extra_source so cargo builds against known-good dependency versions rather than re-resolving against crates.io at build time. Two real build failures hit and fixed here: (1) the `cargo` crate's own libgit2-sys dependency has a broken vendored C build in this environment -- fixed by adding a real system packages/libgit2 + LIBGIT2_SYS_USE_PKG_CONFIG=1; (2) a stale ~/.cargo/registry cache left over from an earlier failed attempt (persistent since $HOME=/root survives across build-tmp wipes) corrupted the `nix` crate's extracted source -- fixed with an explicit `rm -rf ~/.cargo/registry` at the start of the build. |

clang-chromiumNot in ISO A second, separate Clang -- NOT a replacement for the existing packages/llvm (LLVM 22.1.8, still used for rustc/Rust UNO/BPF/sched_ext, untouched). A second, separate Clang -- NOT a replacement for the existing packages/llvm (LLVM 22.1.8, still used for rustc/Rust UNO/BPF/sched_ext, untouched). This one exists solely so packages/ungoogled-chromium can build with a real, self-built compiler instead of Google's own prebuilt clang binary (explicit user preference: 'i prefer not to use google's binary at this time'). Chromium 151.0.7922.137 pins an exact upstream LLVM trunk commit (confirmed directly from its own tools/clang/scripts/update.py: CLANG_REVISION = 'llvmorg-23-init-19482-g53d18800') -- not a tagged release, so the real llvm-project GitHub archive at that exact commit sha is used as source instead of a normal release tarball, real sha256 computed directly (not a placeholder). Installs to its own separate prefix /opt/clang-chromium (matching this project's existing /opt convention for rustc) specifically so it never conflicts with or shadows the system's real /usr/bin/clang (LLVM 22.1.8) -- Chromium's build is pointed at it explicitly via the real, documented GN arg clang_base_path (confirmed directly from Chromium's own docs/clang.md), not by touching PATH or any system default. LLVM_ENABLE_PROJECTS includes lld (not just clang) -- a real, deliberate addition beyond the existing llvm package's scope: Chromium's own official Linux builds default to lld specifically because GNU ld/gold don't scale well to a binary Chromium's size, and this project's build VM sits right at Chromium's documented minimum RAM (15GB against a 16GB+ recommendation) -- lld's lower memory footprint during linking is a real, concrete mitigation for that risk, not a nice-to-have. LLVM_TARGETS_TO_BUILD trimmed to just 'host' (no BPF -- this build's only job is compiling Chromium, not sched_ext codegen). |
